Appendix C:
Accessibility and Compatibility
Accessibility
Accessible Web sites are sites that allow all users,
regardless of visual or auditory disabilities, to access the content of a
site. Accessibility compliance ensures that users with disabilities who use
software other than a regular Web browser are able to “read” the site.
Use Bobby Compliant Web Site Checker (Bobby Online) or MS FrontPage
Accessibility checking to make sure that your Web site is viewable by most
users.
Using Bobby Compliant Web Site Checker
Bobby Compliant Web Site Checker will check your site for accessibility
compliance for both the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and World Wide
Web Consortium (WC3) compliancy.
To check your site using Bobby Online go to -
www.cast.org/bobby
Using MS FrontPage Accessibility Checking Wizard
1. From the drop down menu select Tools > Accessibility, or press F8.

2. Select the options you wish to use for checking your Web pages. WCAG
Priority 1 must be satisfied, WCAG Priority 2 should be satisfied.

3. After you click Check, a report listing all accessibility errors is
generated.

Compatibility
Cross-browser compatibility means designing a Web site so that it will
display properly in more than one browser.
Using MS FrontPage Browser Compatibility Checking Wizard
1. From the drop down menu select Tools > Browser Compatibility

2. Select the Check options for desired Web pages to be tested. Click Change
to select the browsers to test for.

3. Choose the types of browsers you wish to test. (Internet Explorer,
Netscape, or Custom)

A report will be generated that shows compatibility errors if any exist.
